The Block returns on Sunday with Brisbane’s Jimmy and Tam

Channel Nine renovation show The Block is returning on Sunday.

And a new promo shared to the show’s official Instagram page on Friday, introduced down to earth couple Jimmy and Tam.

‘I can pour the best bloody beer in Brisbane… I can do it in my sleep,’ Tam, 31, boldly declared while her husband nodded his head.

The bar manager then reveals her special connection to her local bowls club.

‘I’ve been coming here since I was two… we even got married there,’ she explains.

‘So getting a job and working my way up and becoming a manager, I love it, it’s the best community you can imagine’ she adds.

Meanwhile, Jimmy, 33,  might just be the secret weapon the couple needs to take home the grand prize.

‘I’m a plumber, on and off the tools,’ he said.

‘I think that will be an advantage for me, knowing the process of construction,’ he adds.

The Brisbane-based couple also shares a four-year-old daughter, Frankie.

Currently renting a home and working endless hours, the pair hope to use their winnings to buy a home of their own.

‘We are doing this for Frankie. We want to try and win to set our family up,’ Jimmy told Nine.

Meanwhile, the couple thought their life-changing opportunity on the reality show was over for good when production was shut down in March due to the global coronavirus pandemic.

‘We were told your journey is probably over; you’re most likely not coming back because we don’t know what’s happening with COVID,’ Jimmy told The Courier Mail.

‘We had all quit our jobs and put our life on hold. Having to come home to such an unstable economic climate, you couldn’t go and get a new job and say “I might have to leave if I get a call from The Block”,’ he added, explaining the shows producers arranged for them to be paid once they returned.

The new season will see five couples renovate homes in the bayside suburb of Brighton in Melbourne.

In a surprising twist- the teams will each be assigned a home from a different decade ranging from 1910 to 1950 and are required to restore it to its original style.
