The Block’s Sharon Johal opens up about the heartbreaking ‘late-term miscarriage’ she suffered prior to signing up for the show

The Block stars Sharon Johal and Ankur Dogra have revealed they suffered a late-term miscarriage before applying for the Channel Nine show last year.

The controversial couple said signing up for the televised renovation project was a way to challenge themselves and cope with the heartbreaking loss.

‘We had a pretty rough time, we went through a personal issue. We had a late-term miscarriage, so that really threw us for a six,’ Ankur told Yahoo Lifestyle.

Although they were initially optimistic about appearing on the show, Sharon and Ankur have since criticised how they were portrayed.

Last week, they unleashed on the show’s producers during a live radio interview.

The pair slammed their ‘villain edit’ and called out the unfair emphasis placed on Sharon’s career as an actress.

‘They’re just highlighting what they want to highlight,’ Sharon said of the producers.

‘[They are] always referring to me as “actress Sharon” instead of just Sharon. [They] don’t go “social worker Sarah-Jane”. It’s annoying.’

The former Neighbours star said the couple was getting ‘annoyed with the set-ups and the storylines’ as they head into the series auction day.
