We’ve seen Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger and Jared Leto in the role.

On Monday, Tommy Wiseau tried his hand as The Joker in an audition for the next Batman film directed by Todd Phillips.

Wiseau belted out a number of classic catchphrases popularized by the late Ledger in The Dark Knight, in the clip posted by Nerdist.

‘As huge fans, we at Nerdist give him a chance to show the world what he can bring to this legendary role!’ the outlet said.

The enigmatic actor-director was in full costume, sporting white face paint, a long stringy green mane, a purple suit with green vest and black leather gloves, announcing, ‘Let me introduce you to the new Joker!’

‘What doesn’t kill you make you stranger!’ said the 62-year-old, who was portrayed by James Franco in The Disaster Artist.

The Poznań, Poland-born entertainer continued his audition, putting his own twist on lines from the Caped Crusader’s chief enemy.

‘Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?’ he said. ‘Did you? No. But I did. And I did like the devil.’

Wiseau continued with his dramatic interpretation of The Joker: ‘I am not the monster, no, I am just ahead of the curve! Yes, come to me, c’mon … Why so serious? Why so serious? Why so serious? let’s put a smile on this face! … Jingle Bells, Batman smells!’

Wiseau, who joined James Franco on the stage at the Golden Globes in January, also received a helping hand from Greg Sestero, his co-star in 2003’s The Room, a cult classic hailed by some as the worst motion picture in history.

Sestero played Batman to his The Joker in the clip, though was woefully under-costumed in a Batman mask and leather jacket.

Last month, Wisewau responded to reports that Joaquin Phoenix was in talks with Phillips to commandeer the role with a Tweet to Phillips, stating, ‘Todd. DM me.’
