The hilarious moment a phone scammer meets his match when he accidentally calls the POLICE

A stammering telephone scammer was caught out after he accidentally called a police station.

The awkward call begins with a man claiming to be from a New Zealand internet provider, Spark.

‘I’m calling regarding your internet connection. Your internet is not running on a secure line,’ a man named Greg says.

The call then takes a surprise turn when the person on the other end reveals himself to be a police officer.

‘Well you’ve called the New Zealand police,’ the officer responds, ‘so I’d be very surprised if our internet wasn’t secure’.

There’s a long pause before the scammer responds.

‘It’s the police?’ he asks.

Once he realises his error he is quick to give up on the scam.

‘Oh…okay, I’m sorry to bother you,’ he says.

‘It’s really important that people are wary and know what to look out for, as this is the best way to protect themselves.

‘Please remember to never give out your password, credit card or bank details. If you are unsure if a call is genuine, the best thing you can do is hang up.’
