This week trips to San Francisco and Vancouver as well as finding the official website for Indian visas are also on the agenda…

Q. I would like to visit San Francisco and Vancouver for four days in each, as I have an avid interest in public transport and both have good transport systems. Can you help?

Allan Cotton, Yarm, N. Yorks.

San Francisco has a museum dedicated to its famous cable cars, pictured

A. Four nights in each cost from £2,125 for a single traveller or £1,475pp for two including flights and hotels (0800 3160194, bon-voyage.co.uk). Don’t miss the intriguing San Francsico Railway Museum (streetcar.org/museum) and the city’s Cable Car Museum (cablecarmuseum.org). The West Coast Railway Heritage Park is an hour’s drive north of Vancouver (wcra.org).

Q. My ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation) for visiting the United States expires in October 2020. I used it to go to South Carolina in January. Can I use it again to visit Florida?

Marlene Clark, via email.

A. Yes. Your ESTA is valid for multiple trips of up to 90 days within a two-year period before the expiry date. Go to ‘Check ESTA Status’ at esta.cbp.dhs.gov to confirm.

Q. WHAT is the best time to book flights to New Zealand for November 2020?

J. Blake, via email.
