The hottest new hotels in the world revealed

With thousands of hotels opening around the world each year, it can be hard to know which are worth a visit.

But Condé Nast Traveller is here to help with its 2018 Hot List of the best new places to stay this year from around the globe ranging from cool, quirky properties to super luxurious resorts.

Scroll down to see MailOnline Travel’s 10 favourites from the list.

Branco, Mykonos

The Branco hotel in Mykonos, which is perched on the shore of the Aegan Sea. It’s ‘a goody’ according to Conde Nast Traveller

Perched on the shore of the Aegean sea on the Greek island of Mykonos, Branco is a 21-room boutique hotel with its own beach club.

The impressive deluxe sea view rooms inside the five-star resort all boast a private terrace with a breakfast table and built-in daybed.

Conde Nast Traveller said: ‘Just when you thought there wasn’t a square inch of beach left on Mykonos, another fashion forward hotel pops up on one. And it’s a goody.’

The Hotel National des Arts et Metiers has just opened in the heart of the newly cool second arrondisement in Paris and appears to be a hit with the fashion crowd.

The hotel centres around a former interior courtyard and the stunning roof-top bar looks out over the city skyline.

The judges said: ‘On a winter’s night, the Haussmanian facade is a grid of silver-lit windows and black awnings in summer.’

Bawah Reserve, Anambas Islands, Indonesia

The breath-taking Bawah Reserve is set on an archipelago of five remote islands 150 miles off the coast of Singapore.

Described as luxuriously sustainable the resort has 35 standalone suites that are surrounded by clear turquoise waters, blue lagoons and coral reefs.

It impressed those compiling the list with Conde Nast Traveller saying: ‘This far-flung resort feels neither slick like the Seychelles nor manicured like the Maldives.’

Public, New York

Public is a slick edition to the Manhattan hotel scene with 367 rooms. It is owned by the co-founder of the legendary Studio 54 nightclub

Public is a slick edition to the Manhattan hotel scene with 367 rooms. It is owned by the co-founder of the legendary Studio 54 nightclub

Opened last year, Public is the modern, slick Manhattan hotel with plenty of greenery and is operated by the former owner of the legendary Studio 54 nightclub, Ian Schrager.

The 367-bedroom property on the Lower East Side has no front desk or concierge, because guests check themselves in on iPads that can send a barcode to a mobile phone that’s swiped at their hotel room door.

Conde Nast Traveller said: ‘The 367 bedrooms have reclaimed-oak floors and exposed concrete ceilings apparently inspired by Thomas Jefferson’s neoclassical plantation house.’

Paramount House Hotel, Sydney

The Paramount House Hotel is located within the former Paramount Picture Studios and opened last year following a four-year transformation.

The boutique property only has 29 rooms but most have enclosed balconies and every guest checking in at Paramount House Hotel is greeted with a cold beer.

The judges said: ‘Located in the inner-city neighbourhood of Surry Hills, Paramount House would rather visitors forget it is a hotel completely and just pretend they’ve been given the keys to a cool apartment.’

Press baron Lord Beaverbrook’s former Victorian villa overlooking the Surrey Hills has undergone a five-year restoration that is rumoured to have cost £90 million.

Former guests include Winston Churchill, Elizabeth Taylor, Rudyard Kipling and Ian Fleming, and each bedroom is a homage to them.

It has been described as one of the most exciting new hotel arrivals in the UK this year.

Located in a historic street in the town of Soller in the north west of the island, the 1902 Townhouse opened following extensive renovation.

There are only six rooms, which means the beautiful pool and garden area will always be blissfully quiet.

Praising the property, Conde Nast Traveller wrote: ‘Owners Pete Holman and Martin Grant – both expats from London – have struck a sympathetic and handsome balance between restoring a Spanish classic townhouse and creating a clean, contemporary space.’

There are 45 bedrooms ranging from ‘Tiny’ to ‘Big’ as well as rugs inspired by an old BBC test card and parasols and sun loungers that line the alfresco pool that have a distinctly retro feel.

Conde Nast Traveller was surprised with White City House and said: ‘Considering its non-central location and the building it occupies, it works.’
