The clip shows a Delta aircraft flying alongside the plane the filmmaker is seated in.

After a short time they both touch down together.

It’s a thrilling approach to the airport for any passenger that is lucky enough to experience it.

What’s more, aircraft at San Francisco even take off in parallel.

The British Airline Pilots’ Association said: ‘If the conditions are good, with clear weather and with good communication between the pilots and ATC, there is no reason for alarm’

The airport can operate safely like this because of the skill of the air traffic controllers, the cutting edge technology they use and the pilots communicating clearly and effectively.

Mailonline Travel asked the British Airline Pilots’ Association for its thoughts on the video.

It said: ‘If the conditions are good, with clear weather and with good communication between the pilots and ATC, there is no reason for alarm.

‘Visual separation is used by both set of pilots and instead of just following behind another aircraft and keeping clear of it, they fly side by side and keep clear of it.

‘This is a very safe type of approach and landing, and not all that uncommon.’
