The International Wedding Photographer of the Year Awards 2021 has announced its winners

Beaming happy couples, jaw-dropping locations and stunning party locations are showcased in stunning photos that have scooped a coveted Wedding Photographer of the Year Awards 2021.

The International Wedding Photographer of the Year Awards 2021 has announced its winners and the sensational collection of marital moments include everything from intimate bridal preparations to large party celebrations.

One photo shows an Indian bride being covered with turmeric in Mumbai in a traditional Haldi ceremony whil another depicts a happy and chaotic scene from a rock-lover’s wedding in New York.

Meanwhile, one bride dives from a building in her groomsmen’s arms while some cheeky, good spirited young boys hide under another bride’s veil. 

Fabio Mirulla from Tuscany scooped the grand prize for his deceptive photo of a woman dressing for her special day.

The optical illusion black and white image uses a household lamp to save the excited bride’s modesty while twinning as a wedding gown.

‘We pulled up to the trailhead just after midnight and set off with our headlamps guiding the way under a brilliant sky of stars.

‘At over 10,000 ft in elevation, this is the highest peak in this area and would soon be one of the biggest hiking adventures we would embark upon for an elopement.

‘To say we were excited was an understatement.’

More that 1,500 images were submitted by 415 wedding snappers from 58 countries all competing for the £11,000 prize pot.

Cafa said: ‘Photography is much more than a job for me. The camera helps me meet amazing couples around the world.

‘Usually I don’t take group photos, but if my couples ask me to do it anyway, I love to do so, absolutely.’

American Ken added: ‘After taking a few random photos of the tent with sunset, I sighted the shadow of the poles present in the photo.

‘Projected by my freestanding speed-lights that was still on around the dance floor.

‘And it immediately triggered me with an idea of filling the blank tent canvas with the shadow of people, especially the couple.

‘I then ran back to the dance floor to ask my second photographer to keep only one of the speed-lights on.

‘The photographer has taken the ‘earring moment’ in your average setting and elevated it with the use of composition, timing, and humour to be a masterful piece of visual communication.
