He has been documenting his incredible weight-loss transformation for months. 

But The Living Room’s resident chef Miguel Maestre, 39, has experienced a slight set-back in his quest for leanness, having revealed on Wednesday that he’s still clinically obese despite shedding over 10kgs .

‘Today I went to check my body fat scanner Well I’m still OBESE hahaha,’ he wrote on Instagram next to a side-by-side image of himself that demonstrated his slim-down.

‘28.9 per ent of my body is fat … nice fat, sure. Delicious, for sure. My BMI is 30,7kg/m,’ he continued. 

Despite his frustration, Miguel vowed not to let the numbers get him down. 

‘Whatever this means I feel 1000 times stronger lighter faster and sharper than a few months ago. Good food and a lot of chop chop is working for me, still a long way to go to become a gladiator,’ he declared.

Concluding his post on a positive note, the the Spanish star added: ‘Do whatever you do make sure it works for you. Today is tomorrow, CHOP CHOP. The best thing is going from RELAXED FIT to SLIM FIT.’

It comes after Miguel revealed in May that he’d lost a whopping 10kg by sticking to a ‘Mediterranean diet’ and regular exercise regimen.

‘It is amazing how a little of chop chop every day and a delicious Mediterranean diet can make the big chunky crazy bull slowly turn into an Australian gladiator,’ he wrote next to a before and after shirtless photo.

‘Still a long process to go but fascinating how much sharper and lighter I feel and the fact is that over 10 kg is like two Xmas hams carrying with you everywhere and that’s heavy.’

He said he planned to lose even more weight ahead of his 40th birthday, which is in November. 

‘Before I’m 40 I promise myself to be the best version of me that I could be …. and is not easy as some days have very little motivation but I just take my mind there and the body follows,’ he wrote.

Speaking to Ten Daily in February, Miguel revealed he lost eight kilograms while preparing for the show with his dance partner Megan Wragg. 

‘It’s been a physical and an emotional rolleroaster,’ he said. ‘I’m a massive guy and I suddenly feel like I’m an apprentice all over again.’  

‘I have been working very hard. I used to say ‘never trust a skinny chef’ – but now I am one.’

The culinary king once tipped the scales at 115kg and admits it was a ‘battle’ to get into shape.
