Milkshake singer Kelis was the latest star to be revealed on The Masked Singer, as she was confirmed to be behind the character of Daisy.

Saturday’s show saw the American star, 40, unmasked after she lost out to Monster in the bottom two, despite stunning the panel with her vocals.

The revelation left judge and superfan Rita Ora delighted as she was the first judge to guess one of the celebrities correctly, after claiming she recognised the star simply by the way she was breathing.

After Daisy removed her mask, Rita couldn’t contain her joy at seeing it was Kelis, as she gushed: ‘One of the most important artists when I was growing up ever, you have the most iconic music videos.’

Jonathan Ross then added that Rita had told him she was convinced Daisy was Kelis, as ‘she knows the way Kelis breathes.’

Asked by host Joel Dommett why she wanted to take part in the show, Kelis said: ‘People have been telling me my voice is distinct my whole career, so I thought let’s see how distinct it is.’

Kelis released her debut studio album Kaleidoscope in 1999, but it was her third release in 2003 that rocketed her to stardom thanks to the now-iconic single Milkshake.

In November she announced she would be heading embarking on a UK and European tour to celebrate the release of her debut album, and also announced that month that she was hoping to release new music sometime this year.

Her unmask proved a surprise for many viewers, especially after they were left baffled by Jonathan Ross’ claims that Daisy could be Natalie Cole, who passed away in 2015.
