The moment Asan N’Jie threatened to KNIFE Jamie Lomas

This is the shocking moment Emmerdale star Asan N’Jie threatened to ‘knife’ Jamie Lomas at the TV Choice Awards on Monday night.

In footage from the incident, the actor is heard screaming he’s going to ‘f*****g kill’ Hollyoaks star Jamie, 44, before being escorted out of the event at London’s Hilton Park Lane Hotel.

Asan has since been sacked from his role as Ellis Chapman on Emmerdale and it has been claimed the fight was sparked by a financial dispute between Jamie and one of his co-stars.

During the astonishing clash, Asan shouts: ‘Do you think you are a f*****g big man? I’m going to f*****g kill you. I’m going to f*****g knife you,’ before attempting to take a swipe at Jamie.

After the Emmerdale actor threw the punch, I’m A Celebrity star Malique Thompson-Dwyer ran into the room to intervene and bundled Jamie out, as seen in the video footage originally obtained by The Mirror.

According to reports, the pair were pulled apart by security twice, with Asan eventually being escorted off the premises by staff at around 11pm.

Asan left with co-star Jay Kontzle and another woman while Jamie stayed at the hotel until 2am drinking with Love Island star Amber Gill and Malique.

It has since been confirmed that Asan has been sacked from Emmerdale for his part in the row, with an ITV spokesperson announcing his contract was terminated with immediate effect.

In a statement, show bosses said: ‘Emmerdale suspended Asan N’Jie yesterday pending further investigation into an incident at a central London hotel on Monday night.

‘ITV executives have met with him this morning and as a consequence Asan’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect.’

The ‘devastated’ actor issued a public apology to Jamie as well as ‘the whole Emmerdale team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards’.

In a further statement given to MailOnline, Asan said: ‘My behaviour at the TV Choice Awards was completely unacceptable and very much out of character.

‘I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected especially Jamie Lomas, the whole Emmerdale team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards.

‘I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this.’

The Sun reports that Jamie had been ‘managing’ a young actor from his club, First Take School of Acting, and had ‘secured’ him a role on Emmerdale.

A source told the publication: ‘Jamie had guided this young lad’s career and was responsible for him landing a gig in Emmerdale.

‘However since then, he has decided he wants to leave Jamie’s agency, which Jamie is fine with, but he wants the commission he is owed.

‘He is entitled to this money but it’s currently the subject of a private and personal dispute.’

The Sun alleges that Asan, who is aware of the ‘financial dispute’, decided to ‘goad’ Jamie about the ongoing proceedings and said ‘alright, Jamie big b*****ks.’

The official reason for the fight is still not known, but in the video someone can be heard yelling at the end: ‘It’s only a TV Choice Award.’

Emmerdale beat Hollyoaks and won the Best Soap award at the event on Monday night, while Jamie’s sister, Charley Webb, plays Debbie Dingle on the ITV soap alongside Asan.

At the time, an Emmerdale representative revealed that Asan – who plays Ellis Grant on the ITV soap – would be summoned for talks and his behaviour investigated.

An ITV spokesperson told MailOnline before he was sacked: ‘We are extremely concerned to hear about an incident at the TV Choice Awards involving one of Emmerdale’s cast. We will be investigating and talking to the actor concerned in due course.’

Meanwhile, before he was fired, The Sun reported that Asan was aware that he could be sacked and that he spoke to senior executives via phone just hours after the brawl on Tuesday.

A source told the publication: ‘Asan is beside himself with worry. To quote him he’s in “absolute bits”.

‘He knows that his career in Emmerdale could be over. He’s someone at the centre of a knife crime storyline who has threatened to stab a fellow actor.

‘It doesn’t get more serious than that. He will get down on his hands and knees and plead for another chance.’

The source further added that Asan would have done anything to ‘avoid the sack’ and was even thinking about volunteering with anti-knife crime campaigns in order to get a ‘second chance’.

Asan’s sacking comes after angry Emmerdale fans took to Twitter on Tuesday and Wednesday to call for the actor to be fired.

One person put: ‘@emmerdale you need to sack Asan N’jie. ‘I’ll knife you’? In this current climate of knife crime? Absolute disgrace.’

Another soap watcher commented: ‘@emmerdale I hope you sack @AsanNjie otherwise a lot of people will not be happy after hearing him threatening to knife another actor! Disgusting behaviour!’

A different account said: ‘I seriously hope @AsanNjie gets fired from @emmerdale after his behaviour. In a country filled with knife crime to see a famous actor threaten to knife anybody is absolutely disgusting!!’

While another viewer added: ‘#Emmerdale, I hope you have immediately sacked Asan N’Jie!!! It is not ok to threaten to knife someone. Absolutely disgusting behaviour.’

One onlooker told The Sun about the incident: ‘Jamie was enraged by the sarcastic dig which seemed to come out of nowhere and was completely unprovoked.

‘It was a real flashpoint which left fellow cast members shocked and one or two people remarking on how it was like a scene from a soap opera.

‘The bust up was only stopped from escalating as Malique quickly stepped in to defuse the situation and calm Jamie down.’

Malique told The Mirror of the incident: ‘I told him to relax. I told him “This isn’t that kinda party. It’s the TV Choice Awards.”‘

According to The Sun, the event’s host Katherine Ryan was reportedly one of those who moved out of the way to avoid being caught up in the ruckus.

MailOnline contacted representatives for Jamie Lomas, Asan N’Jie and the TV Choice Awards for comment.

Asan – who had been nominated for Best Newcomer at the TV Choice Awards – joined Emmerdale in August 2018 as Sandra Marvin’s on-screen son, and has also appeared in Waterloo Road, Doctors, Holby City and Casualty.

A recent Emmerdale storyline saw Asan’s character Ellis stabbed. Speaking to Digital Spy about the plotline in May, Asan admitted he was ‘extremely grateful to the writers and the producers for trusting me with this.’

He added: ‘I’m glad we’re exploring it. Especially in London, the knife crime rate is through the roof at the minute. So to explore a sensitive issue like this can only be a positive thing. If we put light onto these issues, hopefully the quicker it will stop.’

Jamie is set for a return to Hollyoaks as the villain Warren Fox in 2020, as the soap prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

In July, bosses confirmed the actor will be back on screens permanently next year after his character Warren Fox made a shocking appearance to steal back ex Sienna Blake’s twins.

Warren is expected to cause shockwaves with his return to the village after snatching the twins he shares with Sienna in 2017. He first debuted on the soap in 2006.
