‘The normal are getting weirder’: Louis Theroux claims polyamorous relationships are the next thing

He’s spent over twenty years creating ground-breaking documentaries.

And Louis Theroux has branded monogamy ‘boring’ while promoting his latest offering about polymary, Love Without Limits.

‘I went in thinking [polyamory] was probably not for me. There’s several thousand years of Western tradition with monogamy – I’ve always been monogamous in my relationships,’ he said on Wednesday’s The Project.

‘But if I’m completely honest, I came away quietly more sympathetic to it and its benefits.

He continued: ‘I think it’s the next thing about this whole debate which has opened up about gender and non-binary gender.

‘It’s sort of like the next thing is about relationships. Do they have to be binary or can they involve, say, three or four people sexually and emotionally?’

Louis went on to say that monogamy is sometimes complicated.

‘It’s not as though monogamy doesn’t have its issues, you know, like monogamy is far from perfect,’ he said.

‘You’ve got on the one hand people cheating behind people’s backs, happens all the time, you’ve got high rates of divorce and breakups and even when it works quote unquote, you know, it can be quite boring.’

The Project’s Tommy Little then asked: ‘Do you think the weird are getting weirder?’

Louis responded: ‘I think the normal are getting weirder, that’s my take on that’.
