Viewers have called on The Project to apologise after they mocked a mining executive’s voice on the show.
One social media user labelled the hosts a ‘bunch of bullies’ after Tommy Little and guest panelist Rove McManus attacked the executive’s high-pitch tones.
Comedian Tommy Little introduced Forward Mining chief executive Geoff Summers and observed he is ‘tough’ and looked ‘rich’ and ‘mean’.
Rove McManus then chipped in using a deep voice: ‘He’s a man’s man, talking about the mines’.

The popular news television show was slammed on social media shortly after, with one viewer observing: ‘this is where bullying starts’
Little then echoed ‘He’s a man’s man’ in his deep voice before saying: ‘So see if this is how you were expecting him to sound?’.
As the panel crossed to the mining executive speaking in his softly spoken voice, there were fits of laughter as Little said: ‘He sounds like the first, mining, minor.’
McManus then responded: ‘Question, are they mining for helium?’

‘Common guys, picking on someone for their voice is pretty low brow. The guy can’t help the voice he has. This kind of thing is where bullying starts.’
