The Project’s Sarah Harris tributes Connie Johnson

She is the much-loved journalist who is expecting her second son with husband Luke Hunt.

And Sarah Harris broke down in tears after hearing that fellow mother-of-two Connie Johnson had passed away following a long cancer battle this Friday.

Appearing on The Project this Friday, Sarah was reduced to tears after watching an emotional video tribute to the late sister of actor Samuel Johnson.

The 35-year-old said: ‘Your heart breaks for those two little boys,’ as she wiped away her tears.

‘It does,’ co-host and comedian Meshel Laurie chimed, ‘but they have a mother they will be so proud of forever.’

‘A warrior,’ the journalist added.

‘Yes, and if we can be half the mother that she has been in the short time, bub, we will be going OK,’ Meshel said.

Comedian Lehmo went on to praise the brother and sister team for the work they accomplished for their charity Love Your Sister.

‘Those two together, her and Sam, the comfort and inspiration they have provided to countless people over the last seven years and the legacy will be enduring.’

The sad news comes after Connie was awarded with the Medal of Order of Australia at the Calvary Clare Holland House, in Canberra, just yesterday.

She was honored for her service to those with breast cancer by Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove, according to a report by ABC.

Meshel told audiences: ‘She said that to Sam yesterday when the Governor-General gave her, her medal, she said to Sam, “We did something. We really did something.”‘

Co-host Waleed said: We’ve had a lot of feedback about that today and you could see what it meant not just to her – and that’s the thing, not just about what it meant to her, but the entire community.

In a statement sent to the Network Ten panel show, Samuel said: ‘She did so well. Please tell all of our friends at The Project not to be too sad for her.

‘It was as beautiful as such a thing could be and there were sh*tloads of rainbows in her final hours. See you soon.’
