The Queen’s Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy claims she has a ‘son’ in Australia

The Queen’s Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy surprised fans by revealing she has a ‘son’ during an interview with the October issue of Vogue Australia.

The actress, 26, wasn’t talking about an actual child, however, but was jokingly referring to her ivory kitten Kitsune, which she adopted while living in Sydney.

She has spent the last few months Down Under filming the Mad Max prequel Furiosa, which co-stars Chris Hemsworth and is directed by George Miller.

‘He is the love of my life… and an Aussie!’ Anya said of her cat. 

Elsewhere in the interview, she refused to confirm or deny rumours she had secretly married her musician boyfriend Malcolm McRae. 

‘I think when people want to say something, they say something,’ she said cryptically.

One subject Anya was happy to discuss was her public image, telling Vogue she likes to stay off social media and doesn’t buy into her own hype.

‘I’m just trying to live my life where I am, rather than on my phone, because the phone or computer can be a scary place if you let it be that,’ she said.

‘Whereas if you focus on what you have directly in front or around you, that seems manageable, and it feels like it’s actually more “you” than whatever image of you is out there for people to interact with.’

Anya has been in Australia since May filming upcoming blockbuster Furiosa, in which she plays the titular character.

During her time in the country, her personal life has made headlines as rumours swirl she and Malcolm secretly tied the knot.

She has been pictured on several occasions in Sydney wearing what appears to be a wedding ring, but has yet to comment on the speculation. 

According to Page Six, the pair wed in July in a U.S. courthouse ceremony.
