The Royal Mint launches pack of six crackers costing £5,000

It can be disappointing to lose out during the Christmas cracker pulling – but you’d be more than miffed to miss out on these prizes.

The Royal Mint has launched an exclusive range of luxury crackers ahead of the festive season, and at £5,000 for six they are the height of opulence.

The pack of luxury crackers, which average out to £833 per cracker, contain a selection of gifts most of us could only dream of finding under the tree.

Prizes include a 1oz Gold Bar, Britannia 2018 ¼ oz. Gold Bullion Coin, 2018 Sovereign Gold Bullion Coin, Sterling Silver Money Clip with Gold Half Sovereign, 18ct Gold Diamond Necklace and Gold cufflinks.

But aside from the five star prizes, customers will also find the traditional hat, a trivia card and the all-important ‘bang’ in every cracker.

The website suggests that they make the perfect to gift for ‘families, work colleagues or as a corporate gift.’

The Royal Mint has also offered up a cheaper alternative in the form of its silver cracker box.

But while the silver selection is a tenth of the price, it still comes in at an eye-watering £500, considerably more than your average cracker pack.

The silver selection contains prizes such as a silver compass, silver compact mirror, silver money clip, silver and olive wood honey drizzler, cufflinks and bookmark. 

The sets are part of the Royal Mint’s debut gifting range – its first in its 1,000 year history.

The complete range will initially include a total of 58 unique pieces, ranging from a sixpence spoon set, to silver hallmarked cufflinks, and a teddy bear.

The collection also includes two unique gifts inspired by one of the most loved Christmas tales of all time, The Nutcracker. The Royal Mint’s 2018 advent calendar tells The Nutcracker story, with a chocolate coin behind each window. Hidden behind the final window is The Royal Mint’s official Nutcracker Christmas £5 coin.
