A quick and easy way to clean the inside of a kettle has been revealed after a clever mum-of-two shared her simple hack.

In a short Instagram video, Carolina McCauley, from Perth, shared how to clean the kettle in only five steps.

To remove the stains, she poured one cup of white vinegar and one cup of water into the appliance then allowed it to rest inside for 30 minutes before boiling.

The liquid was then poured out and the kettle was left looking sparkling clean from the inside out.

It is also safe to combine water with vinegar when cleaning as the two don’t form a chemical reaction.

After 48 hours the video was watched more than 135,000 times and many thanked Carolina for sharing her cleaning tip.

Rather than using vinegar, sliced lemons can also be used to leave the inside of the kettle looking sparkling clean.

‘This works a treat!! I never looked in my kettle until I saw your hack and wow can’t believe how well it works,’ one woman wrote. 

‘I tried this and it works! Thanks!’ another added. 

How to deep clean your kettle 

1. Pour 1 cup of vinegar into the kettle 

2. Pour 1 cup of water into the kettle 

3. Leave to rest for 30 minutes 

4. Boil 

5. Pour out the liquid into the sink
