The surprising location speculated to host The Block

Melbourne has played home to The Block for more than eight seasons.

But according to Monday’s Woman’s Day, the renovation series may be headed to Newcastle, a harbour city in New South Wales.

The publication claimed that host Scott Cam was seen ‘eyeing off’ a property in the New South Wales harbour city.

Woman’s Day speculated that Channel Nine’s The Block may relocate to Newcastle, after Scott, 55, was ‘spotted eyeing off a Wallsend fire station’.

The weekly went on to state that the television presenter could have been scoping out potential locations for the show, or simply expanding his own property portfolio.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to the Nine Network for comment.

With a population of approximately 322,278, Newcastle is located 162 kilometres north to northeast of Sydney.

It is an up-and-coming coastal town, boasting picturesque beaches and playing home to music festivals.  

The Block began its roots in Sydney, where it hosted the first three seasons, before heading to Melbourne for the fourth and fifth seasons.

It then had a quick return to Sydney for the sixth season, however soon relocated back to Melbourne to host the seventh to the present day fourteenth season. 

Scott has become synonymous with the program, and warned contestants to not ‘take the mickey out of it’ in an interview with the Herald Sun last October.

‘It’s a great opportunity to be on The Block. I take it seriously. I don’t want [contestants] to take the mickey out of it,’ the tradie told the publication.

‘The Block, it’s my show and I love it. I want everyone to put in 100 per cent and have a crack because it’s an opportunity 10,000 people [who audition every season] want to do,’ Scott continued.
