The tastiest TV treats! Kids’ crunchy popcorn chicken with sticky sauce

This delicious kids’ crunchy popcorn chicken with sticky sauce is great for the full movie experience

Kids will love this combination of crunchy cornflakes, tender chicken bites and sweet, sticky sauce. Serve in little paper cups for the full movie experience!

Serves 4-6

For the sticky sauce

  • 300ml(½pt) passata
  • 5tbsp clear honey
  • 2tbsp cider vinegar 
  • 2tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1tsp Dijon mustard 
  • 1tbsp soy sauce
  • 2tsp garlic purée

For the popcorn chicken

  • 4tsp cajun seasoning
  • 4tbsp plain flour
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 large, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 2cm (¾in) cubes
  • 3 medium eggs, lightly beaten
  • 200g (7oz) cornflakes, crushed

To make the sticky sauce, place all the ingredients in a saucepan and stir well to combine. Simmer gently over a low heat for 25 minutes, or until thickened, stirring occasionally. Allow to cool.

Preheat the oven to 200°C/fan 180°C/gas 6. Line a baking tray with baking paper. Place the cajun seasoning, flour and a pinch each of salt and black pepper in a bowl, add the chicken pieces and mix to coat.

Place the beaten eggs and crushed cornflakes into separate shallow bowls. Dip the chicken pieces into the egg and then into the cornflakes to coat. Arrange on the baking tray and bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden and crispy. Spoon into paper cups and serve with the sticky sauce.
