The thing to mention in your dating profile for matches

Dating apps like Tinder, Grindr and Bumble are no longer new, which means people have to be creative if they want to stand out.

And according to a recent study conducted by Zoosk we should all be changing our dating app bio to something food-related in order to receive more responses.

The company found that food preferences have an impact on how we interact with each other romantically.

‘Overall, any mention of food in an online dating profile is going to result in an increase in inbound messages,’ the study stated.

Zoosk analysed 3,733,185 dating profiles and over 364 million first messages to find out how mentioning different foods and food-related phrases affects online dater’s romantic interactions.

On top of this, they surveyed over 7,000 singles to get some insight into how food and dating intersect.

One of the most important things to take away from the survey was that talking about food in your profile makes you more attractive.

‘Some foods, such as guacamole, potatoes and chocolate are particularly successful at increasing the amount of messages (users with these foods in their profile have over 100 percent more incoming messages than the average),’ they said.

‘There are a few exceptions however. Interestingly enough, despite the fact that it is both delicious and wonderful, mentioning fried chicken in a dating profile results in 15 percent fewer messages,’ the research continued.

Talking about food isn’t the only way to have a successful dating app experience, with the research revealing that simply mentioning you’re a foodie or talking about cooking will yield results.

‘Profiles that contain the word foodie receive 82 percent more incoming messages, while those who mention the word cook receive 26 percent more incoming messages,’ Zoosk revealed.

Of course only chatting about food will only get you so far as the topics of conversation will quickly dry up.

Zoosk recommended that food shouldn’t be the first thing you talk about as doing so doesn’t result in more replies.

‘But there are some exceptions, the most surprising of which is eggplant, which gets 10 percent more responses than the average,’ they said.

If you are aware of what the emoji eggplant stands for when it comes to texting, this shouldn’t be too surprising.

Vegetarians looking for love will be happy to know that there is no longer a stigma against them in the dating world.

According to Zoosk, back in 2015 vegetarians didn’t have much luck in the online dating department and resulted in 100 percent fewer replies than the average.

‘But now that’s it’s 2017, saying you’re a vegetarian is a plus. Messages that mention being a vegetarian get three percent more replies than the average,’ Zoosk stated.

Although this may not seem like an impressive increase, it is worth paying attention to as it only happened in the space of two years.

Mentioning you’re a vegetarian in your profile can mean you receive up to 52 percent more messages.

Being vegan also helps with the research reporting that those who mention vegan in their profile get 62% more incoming messages than the average.
