The Veronicas’ singer Lisa Origliasso  congratulates her sister on engagement

Lisa Origliasso has celebrated her sister Jessica Origliasso’s engagement to Alex Smith in a backhanded tribute on stage on Monday night. 

In a clip shared to Instagram, The Veronicas stars, both 37, were mid concert when Lisa addressed her twin and the crowd. 

‘Jessica Louise Origliasso has finally actually seen it through and gotten engaged!’ Lisa said to cheers from the audience. 

‘We are very proud of her, she has gotten engaged and they aren’t a psychopath or a narcissist’ she added cuttingly. 

Jessica, who has been unlucky in love in the past, announced last month that she and her girlfriend Alex are engaged. 

She and her jewellery designer partner showed off their huge diamond rings on Instagram at that time.

She posted photos of the pair all loved up with the caption: ‘WIFED. (Still crying a week later.) I’ve waited my whole life for you.’

‘I can’t wait to marry you. Thank you to everyone for the love and comments the past week. I’m sorry if we haven’t got back yet, I promise we will xx,’ she continued.   

The lovebirds shared a kiss as they held up their ring fingers in a pseudo rude gesture, showing off their engagement rings.

The newly engaged couple first announced the big news in an Instagram video. 

Jessica ‘closed down’ the Catacombs of Paris and proposed to Alex as they toured the tunnels lined with human skulls.

In a comically beautiful moment, Alex also got down on one knee to propose to Jessica, shocking the pop idol – it seemed neither knew the other had planned to pop the question. 

Jessica’s sister Lisa commented on both posts. 

‘Mummy says well done my Jessie,’ she wrote on the engagement video before later adding: ‘PSA: Yes, everyone. I approve!’

On the picture days later, which showed off their engagement rings, Lisa wrote: ‘Bling-a-ling to go with your Jing-a-ling.’

While she has now found love, Jessica has a history of tumultuous romances.  

She announced she had split from her American musician fiancé, Kai Carlton, in October 2020.

She told fans she ‘was not afforded any real explanation’ for their separation, and wished to put the relationship ‘behind her’.

At the time, the pair had been living apart for close to eight months amid COVID-19 travel restrictions – with Kai residing in Los Angeles and Jessica based in Brisbane.

‘To all the souls messaging me about Kai – we are no longer together,’ Jess told fans at the time.

‘I was not afforded any real explanation to address this with clarity here,’ Jessica added, hinting that she was dumped by her former tattooed lover.

Prior to Kai, Jessica was in a relationship with actress Ruby Rose.

Jess and Ruby briefly dated in 2008 before rekindling their romance on set of The Veronicas’ music video for On Your Side in 2016. They split once again in April 2018.

Discussing that period on the twins’ MTV reality show, The Veronicas: Blood Is For Life, Jess choked back tears as she described how her ‘isolating’ romance almost destroyed her lifelong bond with twin sister Lisa.

‘Lisa and I didn’t talk for a year. I was in a relationship that wasn’t good for me. I became isolated. I had nobody anymore, I only had my relationship,’ she said.

‘I didn’t have my mum or my dad. When it became too much for me… I walked away,’ she added.
