The VERY glamorous British athletes competing at the Commonwealth Games

The Commonwealth Games are officially under way – and these very glamorous British athletes will be going for gold in Australia’s Gold Coast. 

The sportswomen will no doubt be happy with the glorious sunshine on offer Down Under – with many of them keen globetrotters who have travelled to an array of exotic destinations during their downtime.

From luxurious holidays in Greece and Lake Garda to city breaks in New York, their Instagram accounts reveal the jet-setting lifestyle they enjoy when not training. 

Here, FEMAIL takes a look at the athletes to you should be watching out for over the next two weeks…

SIOBHAN-MARIE O’CONNOR 

Team England swimmer Siobhan-Marie O’Connor will be going for gold in the 200m individual medley, as the current Commonwealth champion in the event.

When not in the pool, the 22-year-old, from Bath, is a keen traveller – including recent trips to Paris, Monaco, Rome and Barcelona.

She often shares romantic snaps of herself with her boyfriend and fellow swimmer Chris Walker-Hebborn, who is also competing at the Commonwealth Games in the 100m backstroke.

The talented couple, who both won Olympic silver medals in Rio last year, enjoyed a recce trip to Queensland last year, ahead of this year’s championships there. 

Siobhan-Marie also regularly shares snaps of herself with her other swimming pals, including Molly Renshaw and Ellie Faulkner. 

MORGAN LAKE 

High jumper Morgan Lake will be hoping to replicate her success at the Rio Olympics in the Gold Coast, after becoming the first to reach the final of her event in decades.

The 20-year-old, originally from London, is a psychology student at Loughborough University and recently featured in a Vogue video with Naomi Campbell as part of a rising stars series.

The psychology student also appears to love fine dining, sharing a snap of herself at the Madison's restaurant near St Paul's in London

Unsurprisingly, Morgan likes to keep active - kayaking on the Hudson during her recent trip to New York

The young athlete appears to already have a taste of the high life, posting snaps of herself on board a helicopter and dining at the Ivy during a recent city break to New York.

Morgan has already been posting several glamorous shots in Brisbane after jetting to Australia last month ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

MOLLY RENSHAW 

Swimmer Molly Renshaw will be competing in the 200m breaststroke at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, following her success at Rio in 2016.

Outside of the pool, the 21-year-old, from Mansfield, clearly enjoys travelling – visiting a range of exotic destinations including Cape Town and the Gilli Islands.

The 21-year-old also appears to have a love of fast cars, sharing a snap of her new BMW with a personalised number plate with her followers

Last summer, she went island hopping with boyfriend Miles in Greece, where she enjoyed lounging on the beach and sipping cocktails.

ELINOR AND MEGAN BARKER  

Cyclist Megan Barker will no doubt be benefiting from the experience of older sister Elinor as they both compete for Team Wales at the velodrome. 

Elinor, 23, won an Olympic gold medal in Rio in the Team Pursuit back in 2016, with Megan cheering her on from the sidelines.

This time round, the 20-year-old Megan, who will be competing in the two-rider Madison event with her older sister at the Commonwealth Games, which is her first major competition. 

The sisters regularly post snaps of each other enjoying bike rides on their Instagram pages, as well as enjoying dinners out.

Megan accompanied Elinor to Buckingham Palace last summer, as the Olympic champion was made an MBE. 

The pair recently enjoyed a holiday in Lake Garda – with Elinor admitting that she’d over-indulged in pizza before enjoying a boat ride in the luxurious Italian resort.  

KATARINA JOHNSON-THOMPSON 

Heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson is one of Team England’s best medal hopes at this year’s Commonwealth Games.

The 25-year-old, from Liverpool, was one of the youngest members of Team GB at the London Olympic Games in 2012, where she competed with teammate Jessica Ennis-Hill.

Away from the track, Katarina regularly snaps of her jet-setting lifestyle on Instagram, with recent trips to Dubai, Qatar and LA.

When not in her gym gear, the Nike Ambassador has a taste for fashion, revealing to Vogue that her favourite designers are Chanel and Saint Laurent. 

The heptathlete is also a dog lover, confessing that she’s already missing her two pooches while in Australia. 

MOLLY CAULDERY 

Pole vaulter Molly Cauldery is Team England’s youngest member at this year’s Commonwealth Games, only turning 18 last month.

The athlete, from Truro, received the news that she’d been selected for the competition while she was still at college.

When not busy training, Molly regularly shares snaps of herself with pals on Instagram – recently attending a festival in Newquay. 

The teenager also enjoys lounging by the pool, as well as surfing, sharing shots of herself on a recent holiday in Fuerteventura.
