The Voice’s Emma Fitzgerald reveals how losing a whopping 50kg has given her the confidence to date

She’s dropped almost half her body weight, losing an impressive 53kgs. 

And now The Voice star Emma Fitzgerald has revealed that losing the weight has given her more ‘confidence’ to date again.

The 28-year-old singer told Woman’s Day that she’s back on the dating scene and feeling better than ever.

I knew if I didn’t take that risk, I’d be single forever,’ Emma told the publication.

Emma went from 115kg to 62kg. 

‘The first date I went on I was shaking and on the phone to my friend, worrying he wouldn’t like me,’ she said, saying her date was probably feeling the same way.

She added: ‘I’m still single – but it’s getting a lot easier.’

Emma previously told Nine Honey about her battle with her weight, saying she had put her dreams of performing aside due to her weight and bullying.   

‘People would make up songs about being a pig and looking horrible,’ the singer said, recalling her heart-breaking experience.  

Emma confessed that she never thought she was good enough because she didn’t fit the Britney Spears model of pop star.

‘I put it aside because I was overweight and never thought I was good enough…There wasn’t anyone I could look to,’ she said.   

After appearing on The Voice in 2017, Emma revolutionised her life, first joining the gym, then dropping alcohol and soft drink from her diet.

The brunette, who works as a radiation therapist, instead filled her diet with fresh fruit and vegetables, with the weight taking 12 months to come off.
