The Walking Dead only has a ‘few seasons left’

In the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead, Carl Grimes suffered a fatal walker bite.

Now the actor who plays him, Chandler Riggs, is suggesting that the series too might be in its terminal stages.

Riggs sent a message to a fan site asking them not to reveal his character’s plot twist, writing: ‘Out of respect for me, for Carl, and for one of the last few seasons of the show, I’m asking you not to spoil the ending of 808 once your sources inform you of what happens.’

Speculation: Chandler Riggs, whose character Carl Grimes is being written out of The Walking Dead, has hinted the AMC zombia drama may be in its terminal stages too

Now avid followers of the AMC zombie drama are dissecting the message posted on The Spoiling Dead Fans site.

Showrunner Scott Gimple had boasted at LA’s PaleyFest in March that The Walking Dead could run for 20 seasons or more.

So fans are puzzling over Riggs’s claim that it is in its ‘final seasons’ when it’s only halfway through season eight.

The Walking Dead still has not been given the greenlight for a ninth season as audience ratings continue to decline.

ScreenRant hypothesizes that the delay is due to the fact that contracts of original stars Andrew Lincoln, Melissa McBride and Norman Reedus have to be renegotiated.

Meanwhile, Riggs, 18, recently showed off his new haircut after ditching the mullet he had for his role on the hit show.

He took to social media on Saturday and shared his newly shorn hair.

He has been playing the son of former sheriff’s deputy Rick Grimes since The Walking Dead premiered on AMC on October 31, 2010, but the haircut confirms his demise.
