Monster mother: Therese Butler (pictured) arranged for her then-teenage daughter Peta Butler to be raped by her online boyfriend in 2006
A monstrous mother who arranged for her teenage daughter to be raped by her internet boyfriend has walked free from jail after just one year in prison.
Therese Butler, 48, sat outside a motel room and smoked cigarettes while a predator named ‘Thommo’ raped her daughter, Peta, aged 15 or 16, in 2005.
The Brisbane mum arranged for a ‘girl’s trip’ to Toowoomba after her online lover demanded sex ‘with a younger version of herself’.
Butler plied Peta with vodka Cruisers and bourbon and left her in a seedy motel room for the obese stranger with bulging eyes to force her into sex.
The vile rapist remains on the run more than thirteen years later. And while Butler was jailed for procuring a child for sex last year, she was released months later because a judge suspended her four year jail term after 12 months.
Butler has since returned to a quiet existence on the sunny Queensland coast with her partner, Jason Cantoni, and her pet blue heeler.
She only had bile and false statements about her daughter when Daily Mail Australia approached her at home in Cooloola Cove, north of the Sunshine Coast.
‘Do you believe a little sl- …’ she said, before correcting herself, ‘a woman who was raped by her (relative)?’
‘She was raped by (a relative) when she was 14,’ she claimed.
Therese walked free from prison in October and could only spew bile about her daughter when confronted by Daily Mail Australia at her home on Wednesday

‘Do you believe a little sl- …’ she said, trailing off, before correcting herself, ‘a woman who was raped by her (relative)?’
Peta, now 28 and a mother herself, rubbished Therese’s allegations as bizarre, ‘100% untrue’ and an example of her ‘just making up lies’.
‘(Therese) still has no remorse and she never will for what she has done,’ said Peta.
The mystery of the vile rapist ‘Thommo’
Despite a concerted search effort, police have so far failed to establish the identity of the vile rapist Thommo, who Therese met online in the early 2000s.
Detectives were inundated with tips from the public after an appeal to information last March but they have been unable to identify him, a Queensland police spokesman said.
Therese was stumped when Daily Mail Australia asked if she could help police identify the rapist.
‘You want my side of the story, talk to my cop,’ she said, clutching a bottle of cordial and demanding to be left alone.
THOMMO: A TIMELINE
About 2004: Therese Butler starts chatting with ‘Thommo’ online. He wants sex ‘with a younger version of herself’
Between May and January 2006: Therese takes her daughter on fateful ‘girl’s trip’ where she is raped by ‘Thommo’
Early 2016: Peta musters the courage to report the crime to police and, with help of detectives, elicits a confession from Therese
October 2016: Therese is arrested by Queensland police
January 2018: Therese pleads guilty to procuring a child for carnal knowledge
March 2018: Police call for public help in finding ‘Thommo’
October 2018: Therese walks free from jail
Therese then unleashed on a news photographer, calling him a ‘f***head’, screaming about him taking an ‘ugly photo’ and telling him to go ‘shove it… up your ar**’.
The investigation into Thommo has been complicated by the fact that, because of her age at the time, Peta cannot remember the exact date or location of the rape.
Detectives believe the incident occurred between May 2005 and early 2006.
Peta has previously detailed the little things she can remember about the rapist, including feeling his face stubble as he raped her.
Thommo was extremely obese, had ‘bulging’ blue eyes, drove a car with cream-coloured leather seats and appeared in his mid-40s at the time.
Therese only managed to add a little bit of detail when she confessed to her crimes.
She claimed to her daughter that she had only met ‘Thommo’ in person twice, after chatting to him online for two years before they met. His email address was something along the lines of email@example.com.
She said she thought his name was ‘Peter’. She knew he had deviant sexual habits, claimed he strangled Therese ‘to the point of not breathing anymore’ while having sex and filmed her.
Police believe he has more victims. But the little details have not been enough to bring Thommo to justice.

Violent fantasies and a shocking admission: How Peta brought down Therese Butler
It took Peta nearly a decade to muster the courage to report her mother’s shocking actions to police at Wynnum station, east of Brisbane.
Police arranged for her to ring her mother in early 2016. It was a nerve-wracking experience.
Peta claimed to Therese that she wanted to talk about the rape for the sake of ‘closure’. But what she was really seeking was justice.
During an emotional 27 minute exchange, Therese corroborated details of Peta’s night from hell. The bus trip. The walk to McDonalds. The purchase of alcohol.
‘He promised he wasn’t going to touch you,’ Therese claimed at one point.
But later, she changed her story, all the while oblivious to her daughter’s muffled gasps.
I’m going to kill him (Thommo) with my bare hands, holding a knife and slicing him from ear to ear and getting him from the f***ing scrotum and slicing him up to the centre – Therese Butler, in taped confession call to her daughter
‘Yeah, it was still rape,’ Therese admitted. ‘I wouldn’t have let him touch you if you weren’t 16.’
She tried to make amends with her daughter, detailing the violent fantasies she had about getting revenge on Thommo.
She said she would like to slice him ‘from ear to ear’ with a knife.
‘If I could turn back time Peta I f***ing would in a heart beat,’ she said in the call.
‘Instead of bowing down to him I’d get him by the f***ing balls and cut the f***ers off and shove them down his throat’.

None of that ever happened.
And after she was arrested and brought to justice last year, Therese instead turned her rage on Peta in front of police and lawyers at the Ipswich District Court.
As she was sentenced, Therese screamed for some one to ‘take out’ her daughter.
Peta told Daily Mail Australia that the important thing now is bringing Thommo to justice.
Thommo’s arrest would ‘help close the door to an evil chapter, to bring justice to the disgusting and manipulative man who raped me,’ she said.
She will never forgive her mother.
‘I am glad my mother did jail time for what she did to me,’ she said.
‘She tricked me, she manipulated me, she made me believe she was a mother.
‘(But) all along she was an evil human being that doesn’t deserve the title of ‘mother’.
