A mother-of-two who managed to lose 22 kilos in five months has shared her incredible body transformation online now that she’s eight months post-partum.

Thessy Batsinilas, designer and co-owner of clothing brand Sabo Skirt, weighed in at 80 kilos when she gave birth to her second child, a son named Jay, in early 2021.

Determined to shift some of the baby weight without drastic diets or unsustainable exercise programs, the 31-year-old from Brisbane managed to part with 13kg in the space of a month by eating five small meals a day, doing 28-minute workouts and walking.

Five months on and she weighed in at 53 kilos with no desire to try and lose the extra 4.5 kilos to be at her pre-baby weight.

On February 28 Ms Batsinilas updated fans on Instagram again with an incredible image of her body eight months after birthing Jay.

‘It’s been months of dedication, hard work, sacrifices and patience. I’ve still got awhile to go! This time around it’s taking a lot longer,’ she said.

‘It just goes to show how many external factors play a part in weight loss and fitness like age, stress, hormones etc.

‘I’ve come so far, I sometimes forget what I felt like eight months ago, and how badly I couldn’t wait to feel like me again.’

Ms Batsinilas previously told Daily Mail Australia she could not have achieved her goals without the help of her husband, George, who is the co-owner of fitness company, Fitazfk.

He designed a realistic program based on her lifestyle and food preferences, similar to one she followed after the birth of their first child, daughter Zaini, which helped her to lose a staggering 23 kilos.

‘This one is based off similar fundamentals and has just been improved with all the knowledge from my previous weight loss and other challenges from around the world,’ Ms Batsinilas explained.

Thessy’s weight loss secrets

* 28-minute workout daily, either strength or HIIT-based.

* One to two fast walks per week.

* Five meals per day from a ‘meal builder’ program that encompasses the main food groups (protein, carbs, fibre and fats).

* Two of these meals are healthy snacks and are eaten before and after a workout. Typical options include fruit, nuts and homemade, protein-rich bliss balls

The plan is based around a daily 28-minute strength or HIIT-based workout.

‘It’s super achievable because it’s so short, and means I can always fit it in with my busy lifestyle of working full-time for my store, while raising two children,’ Ms Batsinilas said.

Alongside the daily workouts, she also goes for one or two fast walks and follows a ‘dietitian-approved meal program’.

Ms Batsinilas said the plan is broken into five meals per day, three main meals plus two snacks before and after the workout.

‘In each meal, you have options so you can pick one food type from each of the main food groups (protein, carbs, fibre and fats),’ she said.

A typical meal might be two eggs, one slice of wholegrain bread, mushrooms and spinach and a quarter of an avocado for breakfast.

A dinner alternative is 100 grams of chicken breast, 1/3 of a cup of cooked brown rice, Asian greens and a tablespoon of olive oil to make chicken teriyaki stir fry.

‘I like following this diet as it’s easy and gives me flexibility, leaving me feeling like I’m not on a strict diet,’ she said.

Asked for her best advice for women desperate to lose weight, Ms Batsinilas said it all comes down to a tailor-made approach.

‘If you want to transform your body, it’s imperative to understand your energy intake,’ she said.

‘Educate yourself on portion sizes and what is calorie rich and serving you little purpose.’

Ms Batsinilas said it’s also important to remember that sustainable weight loss takes time.

‘I believe slow and steady wins the race. Trust the process. Be consistent and your transformation will come,’ she said.
