Thomas Muller has been ruled out of Germany’s final group stage game against Hungary and could be in doubt for the last-16.

Muller, 31, suffered ‘a capsular injury in his knee’ during the final stages of Germany’s 4-2 victory over Portugal on Saturday, according to reports. 

The extent of his injury has not yet been revealed but it is believed Muller will miss out on the chance to secure his nation’s qualification to the next round on Wednesday.

According to SPORT1, Muller sustained the injury in the final minutes of Saturday’s fixture.

The result has thrown Group F wide open, with both sides sitting on three points – putting them one behind behind group leaders France. 

Therefore, the importance of Wednesday’s match is greater than ever – leaving Joachim Low sweating over the fitness of Muller.

According to SPORT1, Muller will not be fit for the all-important fixture against Hungry and he could even miss out on the last-16 should Germany qualify.

Mats Hummels, Ilkay Gundogan and Lukas Klostermann are also in doubt for Wednesday’s fixture after the German Football Association (DFB) announced they were sitting out of training on Monday. 

Hummels is said to be suffering with a knee issue and as a result sat out of training at their Herzogenaurach base north of Munich.

Gundogan is struggling with a calf problem, while Klostermann is nursing a muscle injury that saw him miss out on Germany’s 4-2 win over Portugal.
