Thomas Muller sent off for high kick that leaves Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico with staples to the back of his head during Bayern Munich’s Champions League clash

  • It left Tagliafico requiring staples and stitches to the back of his head 

Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller was shown a red card for a high kick on Nicolas Tagliafico that left the defender needing staples to the back of his head.

Ajax left-back Tagliafico was attempting to control the ball when Muller caught him in the second half of the Champions League group stage game.

Referee Clement Turpin didn’t hesitate in showing Muller a red card in the 75th minute.

Tagliafico remained on the ground for a number of minutes while he received treatment following the blow.

Staples and stitches were used to stem the bleeding to the back of his head.

Muller will miss the first leg of Bayern’s last-16 tie, which will be decided at the draw for the Champions League knockout stages in Nyon on Monday.
