Mikel Arteta is set to welcome Thomas Partey back to his Arsenal squad for the first time since October for the clash with Sheffield United on Monday evening.
Partey has not featured for the Gunners since playing 15 minutes against Manchester City last October because of a thigh injury but returned to training ahead of the win over Newcastle United last week.
‘Thomas had a session before the last game and now he’s had two or three consecutive sessions so he should be part of the squad for Monday,’ Arteta said.
But the Gunners boss says he will have to wait and see as to whether the defensive duo of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu can also return, adding: ‘Those ones it’s possible but we have to wait and see, especially the last two sessions that we have.’
Long-term absentee Jurrien Timber has also returned to training having suffered an ACL injury in the first game of the Premier League season against Nottingham Forest, but Arteta says it will be too soon for him to return on Monday.

‘He’s been a joy, the physios and the medical staff have been really happy with his attitude and his commitment and the way things have gone,’ Arteta said.
‘The way he applies (himself), how determined he is, his willingness to put every effort into everything he is demanded to do, and he’s in a really good place.
‘Now we have to manage him because he’s in the last stage of that difficult injury.’
