Thomastown crash: Woman killed after allegedly stolen car crashes into another vehicle in Melbourne

A woman has died after the allegedly stolen car she was travelling in crashed into a Mercedes SUV.

Emergency services were called to Mahoneys Road in the north Melbourne suburb of Thomastown about 1.10am on Sunday after an allegedly stolen Kia Cerato and the Mercedes collided.

Police and ambulance crews started performing CPR on one of the passengers of the Cerato but she could not be revived.

A female passenger from the Cerato and a man and a woman from the Mercedes were taken to hospital with injuries.

Investigators believe another person was driving the Cerato but left the scene before police arrival.

Mahoneys Road is expected to be closed until later on Sunday morning while the scene is examined.
