First look at Chris Hemsworth’s eight-year-old son playing a young Thor in the trailer for Love and Thunder: ‘He really wanted to be in it’

This is the moment Chris Hemsworth’s eight-year-old son – quite literally – follows in his father’s footsteps in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Tristan Hemsworth is seen in the opening moments of the film’s trailer as he runs through the woods in a montage showing Thor growing from a child to an adult.

The sequence begins with Tristan dashing past trees, then cuts to a teenage Thor and finishes with Chris himself, highlighting the evolution of the God of Thunder.

Chris confirmed his son’s cameo at the Thor: Love and Thunder premiere, and also revealed his 10-year-old daughter India filmed a small role as the character ‘Love’.

The Marvel actor, 38, explained his new movie was a family affair for several stars, as Christian Bale and Natalie Portman’s children also made cameos.

Chris told film critic Kevin McCarthy his children ‘really wanted to be in it’, adding: ‘Taika [Waititi, director] had his children in there. Christian Bale had his. Natalie had her kids as well.’

Chris clarified that the cameos were simply a fun family experience and he didn’t want his children to become actors.

‘I don’t want them to be child stars. It was just a special experience we all had,’ he said.

When asked whether his kids enjoyed sharing the screen with their famous father, he replied: ‘They loved it. They had a great time.’

This isn’t the first time Chris has helped a family member get on screen, as he gave his brother Luke a cameo in one of the Thor movies.

His wife Elsa Pataky also landed a small role as a nurse in Thor: Ragnarok.

The Hollywood star also give his cousin Luke Van Os some career advice before the young actor landed his breakthrough role in Home and Away – the same Aussie soap where Chris got his start.
