Diehard Apple fans camped overnight at stores across the country on Friday to get their hands on the brand new iPhone 11 and premium iPhone 11 Pro.
Hundreds of eager fans braved miserable weather as they queued outside Sydney’s Apple Store on George Street in the hopes of being one of the first to have their hands on the new device.
Photographs showed customers rugged up outside the store, but it was 21-year-old Muhannad Al Nadaf who was the first to get the new iPhone.
After five years of trying to be the first person in Sydney to get the new device, Mr Al Nadaf finally came out on top.

Although the store opened at 8am, the 21-year-old secured his spot in line five hours earlier.
‘There are a lot of clubs on this road, all the drunk people were coming out and they kept abusing me,’ he told CNET.
During his tumultuous wait outside the store, Mr Al Nadaf had to remain standing while council cleaned the floor as he had not brought a chair.
‘I’ve been standing up since literally 3am,’ he said.
He rewarded himself with the iPhone 11 Pro Max in Space Grey and was keen to test out the brand new tri-camera.
However, the phones could be obsolete in Australia within a year because they do not support 5G, meaning customers will have to wait until the next model to use the super-fast network.
Telstra and Optus have switched on 5G in limited areas but will roll out further in 2020.
Vodafone plans to launch 5G next year too.
The 5G network is billed as being up to 10 times as fast as 4G – but users need a compatible handset to use it.
Other brands in Australia do have handsets that are compatible with 5G, such as Samsung, Oppo and LG.
The $1,199 iPhone 11 has a 6.1-inch display and comes in six colours: purple, white, yellow, green, black, and Product Red.
The new premium iPhone 11 Pro starts as $1,749 and comes with either a 5.8-inch or 6.5-inch display. The prices are around AU$50 more than if you buy the phone in the US, once tax is included.
The stainless steel iPhone Pro device boasts three cameras and will be available in four colors, including the new Midnight Green, all with a matte textured finish.
