A sightseeing helicopter came crashing down, landing on top of several parked cars at a fairground in Pennsylvania on Saturday night.

Three people who were on board were injured when the helicopter crashed at about 8pm in the parking lot at the Bloomsburg Fair in Bloomsburg, some 80 miles north of the state capital of Harrisburg.

The three people injured were the pilot and two passengers.

They were taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

It’s not known if the helicopter was landing or taking off at the time of the incident. 

Incredibly, nobody on the ground was hurt. The fairground was packed with more than 64,000 people attending.  

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.

‘An Enstrom F28F sightseeing helicopter crashed south of the helipad at the Bloomsburg Fair in Bloomsburg, PA, today at 8.15pm.,’ the FAA said in a statement.

‘Contact local authorities for information on the pilot and persons on board the helicopter. The FAA will investigate and the NTSB will determine the probable cause of the accident.’

Photos from the parking lot showed the helicopter on its side with its bent rotor blades sticking up into the air along with several damaged cars nearby.

The fair’s website advertises the helicopter rides, operated by J & J Shop Heliair, for $20 per person.
