Bizarre moment three men hold a girl’s ankles as she is hung upside down to retrieve a handbag dropped into a quay

A busy waterfront was brought to a standstill by the bizarre sight of a young woman trying to retrieve a dropped handbag.

Amused passersby watched as three men held the woman by her ankles upside down to grab the expensive-looking bag from the water.

The photo was taken at Elizabeth Quay in Perth’s CBD showing the girl in black pants and a crop top with her long hair perilously close to the drink.

In the water is a small black handbag the woman appears to be reaching for.

Three men lowered her over the side of the quay’s retaining wall, gripping her legs to make sure she didn’t fall into the water.

Nearby is another woman who removes a beer bottle away from the men so as to not let it break. 

The unusual incident did not appear to phase those nearby as people in the background just sat on their phones.
