The Northeast United States has been in the grip of a heat wave with high temperatures combined with above-average humidity making it very uncomfortable to be outside.

The intense heat will likely remain on Wednesday, though more thundershowers are likely.

High temperatures will hover around 90 degrees, though the humidity will make it feel like 100.

A heat advisory remains in effect for New York City at least until Wednesday at 8pm.
