The surprisingly humble life of Michael Hutchence’s daughter: Tiger Lily lives in a London ‘squat’ because she ‘never got a cent’ from her father’s estate – despite INXS selling 60 million records
Tiger Lily Hutchence Geldof, the 22-year-old daughter of late INXS frontman Michael Hutchence, should be living in the lap of luxury.
But the reality of her life couldn’t be more different, as she is apparently residing in a London ‘squat’ after failing to receive a cent of her father’s fortune.
Michael’s estate is estimated to be worth millions, with his band reportedly selling 60 million records worldwide in addition to the income generated from samples, cover versions, and TV and film use.

The shocking revelation about Tiger Lily comes from director and longtime friend of INXS, Richard Lowenstein, who made the new documentary Mystify about Michael.
‘I met up with Tiger for dinner in London. We went to her flat to watch the documentary and it was like a little squat,’ Lowenstein told the Herald Sun.
‘I said, “Where’s the money from your dad’s estate?” and she said, “I’ve never received anything from anyone. I had a meeting once with an accountant that was so bad I didn’t want to do it again”.’
Tiger was due to receive her share of Michael’s fortune when she turned 21.

Michael was found dead in a hotel room in Double Bay, Sydney on November 22, 1997. His death was later ruled a suicide by hanging.
Lowenstein, who directed many of INXS’ music videos, released his documentary about the charismatic singer, Mystify: Michael Hutchence, earlier this year.
Part of his research for the film involved meeting Michael’s only daughter, who lives a fairly reclusive life in England.

Both of Tiger’s biological parents are deceased. Three years after Michael killed himself, her mother Paula Yates died of a heroin overdose on September 17, 2000.
In 2007, Tiger was formally adopted by British musician Bob Geldof, who was married to Paula before she left him for Michael in February 1995.
According to Lowenstein, Tiger saw an early edit of his documentary and gave it her blessing.
‘She loved it. She was very emotionally moved by watching it. In fact, she said I don’t think I ever want to see that again,’ Lowenstein told A Current Affair last week.
