Tiger shark weaves between unsuspecting swimmers in Miami

  • Drone footage captured the shark just yards from South Beach at weekend
  • Swimmers can only wait for the shark to swim away, hoping it doesn’t attack
  • Shark expert Dr Bob Hueter said tiger sharks can pose a threat to humans

This is the terrifying moment a tiger shark weaved between unsuspecting swimmers in the shallows of a Miami beach.

Drone footage captured the shark just yards from South Beach as at least three swimmers stand aghast.

They can only wait for the shark to swim away, hoping it doesn’t attack.

Shark expert Dr Bob Hueter of the Mote Marine Laboratory said tiger sharks can pose a threat to humans because ‘they go after big things.’

‘They feed on other sharks, turtles, and dolphins. To see it among swimmers is definitely a little alarming,’ Hueter told WTSP.

But he added that the oceans are generally safe to swim in apart from at dawn and dusk and when sharks are feeding.

Tiger sharks are common off the coast of Florida but it’s rare for one to come this close to shore.
