Hilarious video footage captured the moment a grandfather was almost squished inside a sun lounger while relaxing in the back garden.

Glenn Smith, 67, was soaking up the rays with his wife Janet outside his son’s house in Irvine, North Ayrshire when he found himself almost swallowed up by a deck chair as he went to grab a drink.

The minute-long CCTV clip, taken on June 26 when temperatures were a scorching 75F, shows him shuffling forward in the chair in an attempt to stand up before being trapped inside.

The retired Scot, who was unharmed, can be seen rocking himself forward in a bid to get up, but the motion causes the chair to start folding in on itself, with Glenn the unintended victim.

He turns to his wife and starts laughing with her as he is clearly stuck inside the lounger.
