  • The misfiring ace struggled to impress, having scored just 12 goals all campaign

Timo Werner’s agent has refused to rule out the Chelsea striker joining Bayern Munich in the future, in a switch that would reunite him with Julian Nagelsmann.

The two men worked together at RB Leipzig with Werner then heading to Stamford Bridge last season, and a reunion may be on the cards as the misfiring ace struggles to impress.

Werner was snapped up for £53million in a move initially lauded, but his first season in England was marred by several glaring misses and below-par performances.

And now, with Naglesmann having left Leipzig to take charge at Bayern, Werner’s representative appears to have left the door open for the transfer.

Karlheinz Forsterbe has also lauded the success that Nagelsmann and Werner enjoyed in the past.

‘Julian let Timo play in a different position at Leipzig,’ he told Sport1. ‘A bit like Thomas Muller at Bayern. Julian and Timo appreciate each other.

‘Of course, I don’t yet know what will happen in three or four years. Football is fast moving.’

Werner made the move to Chelsea off the back of a fine final season at Leipzig, which saw him score 34 goals and attract fierce interest from a number of elite clubs, including Liverpool.

However, he has endured a rough stint so far with the Blues, netting just 12 goals from 52 appearances and being openly criticised by supporters and pundits alike.

Forsterbe, though, also admitted that he doesn’t expect Werner to leave Chelsea anytime soon.

He added: ‘You can’t rule out anything, but if I had to assess it at the moment, then I would say very clearly that Timo will stay at Chelsea,’

‘He feels comfortable there. A move will not be an issue in the foreseeable future.’

Recent reports have indicated that Thomas Tuchel would prefer to keep Werner this summer despite his first-choice frontman’s stuttering form.

New Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was said to have considered Werner as a potential option after making his return to the Bernabeu.

But The Mirror claim that Tuchel will not allow the 25-year-old to leave because he believes the Germany international still has a big role to play next season.

Werner teed up 15 goals last year, underlining the fact that his overall game helped Chelsea in their quest for silverware, and he will likely remain a valuable asset.
