‘I’m out of here!’ Today show reporter Lara Vella tosses her script in the air and abruptly walks off set during awkward weather broadcast… leaving colleagues baffled

Today show chase reporter Lara Vella is no stranger to being pressed for time.

And on Monday, the Sydney-based journalist was forced to cut short her weather broadcast in order to catch a flight on time.

After presenting the weather, the 37-year-old tossed her script in the air and abruptly left the set to make it to the airport.

‘Guys that is it for me because I have to high tail it to the airport and we are off to Bowen and this week you will see everything from redheads, snags, mangoes, that is all I have to say,’ she said.

‘I will leave you to read the rest of the weather. I’m out of here guys I That is a good tease.’

Lara’s colleagues Deb Knight, Georgie Gardner and Tom Steinfort were left puzzled.

‘I thought you were here for the day. Goodness me, clocked off? Well, at least you’re working. Thank you Lara!’ Deb said with a laugh.

It comes two years after Lara found herself at the centre of another awkward moment during a live broadcast.

The Channel Nine personality was presenting a segment about the NSW police force and was left red-faced when she realised that the police ‘expert’ she introduced was actually the wrong guest.

‘Here to tell us more is the Commander of the NSW Financial Crimes Squad, Detective Superintendent Linda Howlett. Good morning to you…,’ Lara began.

The woman who appeared on the split screen was not actually Linda.

‘Ah, sorry, I’m actually here to talk about road safety. I’m not from the police,’ the baffled guest explained.
