Allison Langdon is left shocked as Today show weatherman Tim Davies mows down school children during a hay sack race live on TV

Channel Nine Today show presenter Tim Davies made an hilarious on-air gaffe on Friday.

The handsome weatherman was seen participating in a hay sack race with some school children during a segment.

In what seemed to be a deliberate move to gain a competitive advantage, Tim appeared to playfully knock over one of the kids in order to take the race lead.

A playback of the incident shocked Today co-hosts Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon.

‘I’ve never seen anything like that,’ Karl exclaimed, after watching Tim mow down the child in slow motion.

Meanwhile, Allison covered her mouth to try and suppress an embarrassed laugh.

‘C’mon, that’s next level,’ she said, ‘to knock a kid over!’

The hosts watched again as the clipped was re-played in slow-motion, which showed Tim making contact with the child’s back who was racing in front of him.

The impact of the collision sent the boy tumbling head first into the turf.

Sharing the clip to his social media on Friday, he messaged: ‘Welcome to life, kids.’

He then added, cheekily: ‘Allison Langdon told me to do it.’

Surprisingly, the incident has not seemed to raise any hackles with the popular weatherman’s fans and followers.

‘Oh  my God, Tim, this is the best,’ posted one friend.

Many others shared messages in a similar vein.

‘Ha, ha, I couldn’t stop laughing,’ wrote a follower, while another said simply: ‘Love this.’

It comes after recent speculation that Allison Langdon has been tapped to replace out-going A Current Affair host Tracey Grimshaw.

Kyle Sandilands appeared to confirm the rumour during an interview with the long-running host on Wednesday.

Speaking to Tracey on his KIIS FM radio show, the shock jock said he knew it was the Today show host.

Nine is expected to make an official announcement about the new host of A Current Affair next week.
