Toddler is crushed to death at a park in the NSW Mid North Coast

A young boy tragically lost his life over the weekend when he was crushed by a piece of sporting equipment on the NSW Mid North Coast. 

The two-year-old had been with his father at an oval on Albatross Way, Old Bar, near Taree, on Sunday at about 2pm, when a piece of sports equipment suddenly fell and struck him.

Bystanders rushed to perform CPR after the father called for help but the toddler was unable to be saved.

The oval, which is known as the EG Trad Sportsfields, hosts rugby, cricket and soccer games.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
