Emma McKeon’s brilliant form in the pool at the Tokyo Olympics has continued with a gold in the 50 metres freestyle, breaking her own Olympic record.

It’s her third gold medal in Tokyo and becomes Australia’s most successful Olympian ever with 10 medals from two Games.

Fellow Australian Cate Campbell finished seventh.

McKeon went into the race as the raging hot favourite after she qualified fastest for the final a day earlier.

She could claim another gold later on Sunday in the women’s 4x 100metre medley relay.
