A Twitter account in Tokyo has chronicled the funniest footage of drunk and sleeping people in a fashionable part of the city.
Compiled by the Twitter account Shibuya Meltdown, the images and video clips reveal the strangest places that struggling Tokyo residents – either intoxicated or exhausted from a hard day’s work – have chosen for a rest.
The footage gathered in the Shibuya neighbourhood show one man resting his head on the side of a travelator before collapsing to the floor when it reaches the end.
In another image a man is lying dangerously on a pedestrian crossing, while a further picture shows someone napping on a pavement kerb next to a parked car.
Some of the resting people chose to lie down in full view of public transport users, for instance on the floor of a subway train.
Another unfortunate man found himself lying on a bed of waste, made up of more than a dozen bin bags.
