Tom Cruise helicopters to NYC for Tonight Show spot… as he promotes Mission Impossible: Fallout

There’s no debate – Tom Cruise knows how to make an entrance – and an exit.

The 56-year old actor looked every bit the action hero, when he was spotted flying in and out of midtown Manhattan in a helicopter for an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Monday.

And it’s all part of his globetrotting promotional tour for his new action-flick Mission Impossible: Fallout.

And it’s no wonder Tom needs a helicopter.

He is currently on one of his famous whirlwind rides that he often embarks on when promoting a film.

But the hectic pace didn’t stop Tom from being the consummate gentleman when he touched down on the helipad in midtown Manhattan. He made a point of greeting some of the workers with a handshake and that million dollar smile.

And he also showed that father time still hasn’t caught up with him, as he looked trim and ready in a fitted black suit.

He paired the classic ensemble with a dark button-down shirt and a pair of black leather shoes.

His hair was styled with a part slightly to the right and he accessorized with a Cartier wrist-watch and a pair of dark sunglasses.

The Top Gun star has been known for his globetrotting ways when it comes to promoting a movie. And this latest installment in the MI franchise is no exception, with Tom making stops in Washington, DC, South Korea and Japan in recent days.

The latest film in the Mission Impossible franchise sees Ethan Hunt and the IMF team race against time after a mission gone wrong.

And ‘gone wrong’ is exactly how you describe one of the stunts that Tom did in London that resulted in a broken ankle.

In the scene, Tom was supposed to jump from one building to another, but he crashed into the side of it and snapped his ankle. The injury shut down production of the film.

‘I went right into rehab. About 10 hours a day, 12 hours, seven days a week because six weeks later I had to be on set and twelve weeks later I had to be sprinting again,’ he revealed in an interview with People. ‘Doctors said they weren’t sure whether I’d be sprinting in nine months, let alone that time. I was like, Okay, I gotta figure this out and I gotta figure it out fast.’

Turns out that ankle still hasn’t fully healed, but as seen by his rigorous schedule, that hasn’t slowed him down at bit.

The spy flick was written, co-produced and directed by Christopher McQuarrie and marks the first film in the series to be released in Real D 3D.

The 56-year-old star has now played hero Ethan Hunt since 1996.
