‘Nine were happy to cash in on your ratings by showing off your tacky weddings and fired Karl for having one’: Mortified Stefanovic savagely roasted by Tom Gleeson at the Logies who pokes fun at his sacking
The 61st annual Logie Awards kicked off on the Gold Coast on Sunday night.
Gold Logie nominee Tom Gleeson opened the ceremony with a hilarious monologue that saw the comedian roast Channel Ten, Married At First Sight, and Karl Stefanovic.
‘I think the reason they (the Logies) ask you to do the opening is because Channel Nine has run out of stars,’ he said.

‘They don’t have any left. They have new rule on breakfast too TV, if you are too entertaining they fire you. Am I right Karl. Is Karl here. Where is Karl?’
Just moments later he took another swipe at Karl, this time by roasting his ‘tacky wedding’ to Jasmine Yarbrough.
‘Congratulations to Married At First Sight by the way for their monster ratings. Give them a huge round of applause,’ Tom said.

However, the comedian took the sting out by acknowledging that the Today show’s ratings have been disastrous since Karl was sacked.
‘Karl, Today Show needs you. I was on the Today Show the other day to promote the Logies. The ratings are so low I felt like I was keeping a secret!’ he joked.
Karl and Jasmine officially tied the knot in Mexico in December.

Just one week later, Karl was fired as the host of the Today show while on his honeymoon.
Besides roasting Karl, Gleeson also took Channel Ten to task for their lacklustre ratings and implied that Channel Seven is boring.
‘Channel Seven is like the sensible family that never gets invited to parties,’ he jabbed.
‘Channel Ten is the younger people that make a lot of noise even though no-one is listening.’
