Tom Hanks reveals he and Rita Wilson both ‘feel better’ two weeks after contracting coronavirus

Coronavirus victim Tom Hanks has revealed that he and wife Rita Wilson are ‘feeling better’.

Taking to Twitter he revealed that the two, both 63, were improving, a week and a half after they were diagnosed, while also urging everyone to stay inside to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

‘Hey, folks. Two weeks after our first symptoms and we feel better,’ he wrote.

Rather than a more detailed update, the rest of his short post was reserved for advocating for stronger social isolation.

‘Sheltering in place works like this: You don’t give it to anyone — you don’t get it from anyone. Common sense, no?

On the mend: Tom Hanks, 63, tweeted Sunday from his Australian self-isolation that he and Rita Wilson, 63, were both feeling better a week and a half after testing positive for the coronavirus

‘Going to take a while, but if we take care of each other, help where we can, and give up some comforts…this, too, shall pass. We can figure this out,’ he concluded, signing off with ‘Hanx.’

Tom and Rita both tested positive for the coronavirus on March 12 while visiting Australia for pre-production on Baz Luhrmann’s still-untitled Elvis Presley biopic.

The Castaway star was set to play Elvis’ Svengali-like manager Colonel Tom Parker, who helped the rocker rise to astounding fame, only to abandon him as his commercial prospects waned in the 1960s.

Luhrmann, best known for directing Moulin Rouge and The Great Gatsby, had to go into self-quarantine with his family after being in close contact with Tom.

He announced earlier this week that the production had been suspended indefinitely until the coronavirus threat had passed.

Isn't it ironic? On Tuesday, Tom had said their symptoms hadn't gotten worse while sharing the surprising item he'd brought on the trip: a Smith Corona manual typewriter

Earlier this week, Hanks’ Italy-based older sister Sandra Hanks Benoiton exclusively told DailyMail.com that her brother ‘was not great, but still okay,’ which she partly attributed to Australia’s healthcare system.

On Tuesday, the Bridge Of Spies star posted to Instagram a photo of the typewriter he brought with him for his Australian trip, which was, fittingly, a Smith Corona manual typewriter.

At the time, he said their symptoms were ‘much the same,’ with ‘No fever but the blahs.’

‘Folding the laundry and doing the dishes leads to a nap on the couch,’ he added, before joking that Rita was clobbering him in Gin Rummy.

It’s not a coincidence that the beloved actor had a Smith Corona typewriter with him on his trip, as he has collected hundreds over typewriters over the years.

In 2017, he capitalized on that interest with the publication of Uncommon Type, a short story collection in which every piece featured a typewriter.

Though Tom has been posting most of the updates on their condition, Rita revealed earlier on Sunday that she was feeling better when she shared an incredible rap to Instagram.

The singer and actress filmed herself reading a copy of Ender’s Game, before putting her book down and rapping along as someone put on Naughty By Nature’s Hip Hop Hooray, proving that her son Chet Hanks isn’t the only rapper in the family.
