Real announced Kroos had an issue in the gluteal region after he was replaced by Luka Modric during first-half stoppage time of the Betis match.

It saw the 30-year-old miss La Liga games against Valladolid and Levante, although the club were confident he would return to training within two weeks and be available after the international break, while he himself posted on social media he would be ‘back in no time’.

He was still called into the Germany squad by coach Joachim Low’ for the UEFA Nations League fixtures and played the full 90 minutes of the 2-1 win over Ukraine in Kiev on Saturday, although he sat out the preceding warm-up friendly against Turkey on October 7.

It means Kroos could also play in Tuesday’s Group A clash with Switzerland in Cologne with Spanish newspaper AS reporting he should now be back to bolster Zidane’s Madrid squad for a busy spell of forthcoming fixtures.
