Tony Ly’s matchstick nails actually light on fire

There’s no higher praise than saying something is ‘lit’ — which seems to be why one talented manicurist made sure his latest work would quite literally earn the description.

Tony Ly, a manicurist based in Wichita Falls, Texas, took to Instagram to show off his incredibly creative nail innovation, which is both functional and fabulous.

The unique look features an acrylic stiletto-shaped nail with a special matchstick attachment that can actually be lit on fire when it’s rubbed against another nail.

Cleverly concealed behind several teardrop crystals on an acid green polish background, the green-tipped match is barely noticeable at first glance.

However, to demonstrate it works, Tony can be seen striking the match against another nail that has been covered in striking paper, to light the match on fire.

With over 600,000 followers on his Instagram account @tonysnails, the video posted just two days ago has already been viewed over 188,000 times.  It has also received over 1,000 comments from fans.

One who goes by @cydneyparsons wrote in the comments section: ‘I want this during my next fill please.’

And @txladybug83 praised Tony’s work saying, ‘This is beyond another level.’

For @kristenrynehart, having a matchstick nail would come in handy. ‘Super classy,’ she wrote. ‘Got no light? Hold on while I light my acrylic up for y’all!’

Instagrammer @circuspeanut3 channeled Alicia Keys lyrics to show her appreciation: ‘These nails are on fire *alicia keys’ voice’.

Meanwhile, @boiledfr0gs simply said: ‘I caaaaaant with this man’s nail designs omg’.

Follower @gia_mani compared the manicure to something out of a James Bond movie, and @makeupwhore6 typed: ‘I’m completely done!!!!! Your artistry is off the damn hook!!!!’

However, not everyone was happy with the design, with some people commenting that the concept was dangerous.

Instagrammer @sofivtorres wrote: ‘This is so stupid and dangerous’.

And @bougiebaebee agreed: ‘Who lights fire around acrylic and nail polish? Just dumb’.

That was a sentiment shared by @mrose_86: ‘I feel like this is not a good idea considering all of the flammable products being used? Pretty though.’
