Tony Robbins has been accused of sexually assaulting an underage girl at a summer camp in 1985. He denies it
Tony Robbins has sued BuzzFeed news over a new report alleging he sexually assaulted an underage girl at a summer camp in 1985.
According to a new article published by BuzzFeed on Friday, the self-help guru was seen forcefully kissing the girl while pinning her against a wall after appearing as a guest speaker at the camp.
The girl, who is not named, gave a 2,400 word statement through her lawyers describing the ‘prolonged sexual assault.
She said she had finished a session with Robbins when he asked her to accompany him on a walk in the woods, during which he allegedly forced himself on her and groped her.
At the time, Robbins was 25 and had already carved out a living as a motivational speaker.
The alleged incident is said to have taken place at SuperCamp, which BuzzFeed describes as ‘an elite summer camp in Southern California on a campus.’
The article cites witnesses who say they saw Robbins and the girl kissing against a wall.
Steffanie Scott, who was 15 at the time, said she had gone for a jog when she saw them kissing and, she claims, Robbins ‘pinning’ the girl’s arms behind her.
‘He was going for her, his whole body was pressed up against her. I wouldn’t want to be pinned. Not like that.’
The article is the sixth by BuzzFeed which alleges misconduct against Robbins.
He has previously denied allegations of impropriety and defended himself against the outlet’s descriptions of his reportedly unorthodox methods at arena shows.
Jennifer Connelly, a spokesman for Robbins told DailyMail.com on Friday that he denied BuzzFeed’s account and called it ‘false news’.
His attorneys vehemently denied the account, telling BuzzFeed: ‘No sexual assault happened. Period.’
In a subsequent blog post on Medium, she announced he was suing the outlet over its continued reports about him.
‘Tabloid journalists at BuzzFeed are fueling a cancel culture agenda, abusing their position as “journalists”, and spreading false and destructive narratives. Enough is enough.
‘Tony Robbins is now suing BuzzFeed after their yearlong campaign attacking him personally, his businesses and charitable initiatives.
‘Mr. Robbins denies BuzzFeed’s latest allegations. Consistent with Mr. Robbins’ denial, the camp’s current and former owners and others present informed us that they recall the alleged 34-year-old incident and completely reject the accuracy of Buzzfeed’s account,’ she said.
